WHAT ARE DECOR DECALS MADE FROM?

These Decals are made from high-quality vinyl. The decal has three layers to it.

  • the top layer (transfer tape)
  • the middle layer (vinyl media)
  • the bottom layer (paper backing). The backing paper protects your decal until you are ready to remove it. The transfer tape allows you to grab the vinyl media and apply it to your surface wherever it might be; this means all that will be left on the surface is your design.

WHERE ARE THESE DECALS MADE?

Proudly made in NZ

WHAT CAN THEY BE USED ON?

You can use them on furniture, home decor, glass, metal, painted surfaces (freshly painted surfaces should be allowed to dry and cure min 2 weeks), windows, smooth wood, walls, and so much more: Interior or exterior application.

DO THE DECALS  HAVE A BACKGROUND?

The decals do not have any transparent film around them; this means all that will be left on the surface is your design.

HOW LONG WILL MY DECAL LAST?

They have up to 5 – 7 years of indoor durability and five years of outdoor durability, depending on the surface material it was applied to and weather conditions in your area.

HOW DO I REMOVE MY DECAL?

Be gentle! Lift an edge and very slowly peel up the vinyl. There is always a chance that paint or furniture stain flecks may be removed with the vinyl. Depending on the existing condition of the surface you have applied the vinyl and location, and conditions.

You can try blow-drying the vinyl (on low heat) and then peel it up slowly; the heat will soften the adhesive side of the vinyl and should help you remove it quickly.

When walls have been prepared as recommended and properly maintained after application of the decal, you shouldn’t have any damage when removed. However, please be aware that any decorative medium has potential surface damage.

CAN I USE THEM OUTSIDE?

Yes, these decals can be used outdoors. Ensure the surface is clean and dry and free of dirt and debris. Some examples of successful applications are exterior windows, doors of homes, exterior home decorations, such as treated boards or metal objects like mailboxes, signs, etc.

CAN I WASH THE SURFACE THAT THE DECAL IS ON?

Yes. We recommend that you use a soft cloth or sponge dampened with cool water to clean your decal. Avoid using cleaners that contain alcohol, abrasives, citrus additives, or ammonia. When a decal is applied on a window or mirror, take special care to avoid glass cleaners that contain alcohol, ammonia, or citrus additives.

WHAT SURFACES ARE RECOMMENDED?

These decals can be applied to just about any clean, smooth surface free of dust, grease, or other contaminants.

DECOR DECALS APPLICATION

You will need:

  • Squeegee ( included )
  • masking tape
  • pencil
  • scissors

Step 1:

To start, give your surface a good clean with warm water and 5% washing detergent, remove any dirt, dust, or grease. You may also need to sand back any imperfections on the surface, as uneven surfaces will show. The surface must be dry before you start the application process.

If you have more than one image on your transfer sheet and only want to use one of the images, then you can carefully cut it out with scissors.

Step 2:

Press the vinyl all over from the centre and outwards using a squeegee. This ensures the vinyl fully adheres to the transfer paper.

Step 3:

Before removing any layers, place the decal to the surface and have a good look to ensure that you are happy with its placement. You are taking into account the height and level. If you want the design to be centred, measure the surface from top to bottom and side to side with a tape measure and mark the centre.

Step 4:

Remove the backing paper from the vinyl, leaving the transfer paper in place. Be very careful when doing this to ensure you do not tear the decal in the process. If the decal does not release from the backing paper, then push down the paper again and rub the decal with your finger in that spot. Then try lifting it again.

Once the backing paper is off, the vinyl transfer will adhere to the surface beneath it, so be careful where you place it.

Step 5:

Starting with the top left corner o gently let the decal touch the surface. Next, press it onto the surface using a squeegee working outward at all angles. Continue bringing the squeegee from the centre to the outer edges of the decal until you’ve gone over the entire surface.

Step 6:

Gently go over any air bubbles you see with the squeegee, pop them with a pin and smooth over with your finger.

Step 7:

Slowly peel away the transfer paper from the top left corner at a 45-degree angle. If any parts of the decal start to lift with the transfer paper lay the transfer paper back down ( only the section that isn’t releasing) and press down on the area again until the vinyl is affixed to the surface.

You have completed your application!
